An Instrumentation Engineer designs, develops, installs, maintains, and calibrates control systems and instruments for industrial processes, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency using tools like PLCs, SCADA, and DCS, while troubleshooting issues, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with standards. Their work involves both hands-on work (installation, calibration, repair) and technical design (system architecture, documentation, programming) in sectors like oil & gas, manufacturing, and energy.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development: Create new instrumentation systems and control strategies (PLC, DCS, SCADA) for processes.
Installation & Commissioning: Oversee the setup, wiring, and testing of new equipment and systems.
Maintenance & Calibration: Perform regular checks, calibration, and repairs to ensure accuracy and minimize downtime.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix malfunctions in instruments and control loops.
Documentation: Prepare technical reports, drawings (CAD), process flow diagrams, and I/O lists.
Safety & Compliance: Implement safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to industry standards (EHS, API, etc.).
Project Management: Manage projects, budgets, timelines, and collaborate with other engineering disciplines. Core Skills & Knowledge:
Technical: PLCs, DCS, SCADA, sensors (transmitters, load cells), communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus), data acquisition.
Software: CAD, LabVIEW, C++, MS Office.
