About the Role
The Instructional Designer & Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-impact learning experiences that support MostEdge employees and our convenience store customers. This role blends instructional design expertise with hands-on training delivery and requires a strong understanding of c-store and fuel retail operations.
In addition to internal training, this role will develop industry-specific courses and customized training content tailored to customer needs, ensuring learning solutions are practical, relevant, and directly aligned to how stores operate. This position reports to the U.S.-based Training Manager and partners closely with product, operations, sales, and customer success teams.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Industry-Specific Learning
Design and develop industry-specific learning programs for the convenience store and fuel retail environment, including:
Invoice management and back-office workflows
Pricing, scan data, and category management fundamentals
Surveillance, loss prevention, and operational controls
Store operations and compliance-related processes
Create engaging eLearning, microlearning, ILT/VILT, job aids, SOPs, and playbooks that reflect real-world store scenarios.
Translate complex technical and operational concepts into clear, actionable learning experiences for varied audiences.
Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, Agile, or hybrid approaches).
Develop assessments, scenario-based learning, and performance-based knowledge checks tied to operational outcomes.
Maintain and update content to reflect product enhancements, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
Ensure all learning materials align with MostEdge branding, quality standards, and tone.
Customized Customer Training
Design and deliver customized training content based on specific customer needs, store formats, and service configurations.
Partner with sales, onboarding, and customer success teams to assess customer learning requirements and define training scope.
Adapt standard MostEdge training materials into customer-specific formats, workflows, and use cases.
Support customer onboarding, product adoption, and advanced training engagements.
Deliver virtual and occasional in-person customer training sessions as needed.
Training Delivery & Facilitation
Facilitate live training for internal teams and customers, including:
New hire onboarding
Product and service training
Role-based and refresher training
Adjust facilitation style for diverse learner groups, from internal support teams to store operators and field personnel.
Lead train-the-trainer sessions and support SMEs in delivering consistent training experiences.
Collect learner feedback and performance insights to improve training effectiveness.
Collaboration & Program Support
Collaborate with the Training Manager, SMEs, product leaders, operations, and customer-facing teams to identify learning needs.
Support MostEdge Academy and LMS content development and maintenance.
Contribute to curriculum maps, learning pathways, and documentation standards.
Help scale training programs to support company growth while maintaining consistency and quality.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in instructional design and learning content development.
Proven experience delivering instructor-led and/or virtual training.
Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design best practices.
Experience using eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise/Storyline or similar).
Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work cross-functionally.
Preferred
Experience in convenience store, retail, fuel, or multi-location operations.
Experience developing customer-facing or client-specific training programs.
Familiarity with LMS platforms and learning analytics.
Experience supporting onboarding, customer success, or operational training initiatives.
