The Installation, Onsite Test & Commissioning Engineer - Loco Kavach will be responsible for executing installation, retro-fitment, integration, and commissioning of Kavach units in locomotives across Indian Railways. The role requires practical expertise in locomotive systems, hands-on experience with brake interface units, and the ability to interpret and apply loco interface wiring diagrams for successful Kavach integration.
Installation & Retro-fitment: Perform installation and retro-fitment of Kavach units in various types of locomotives.
Ensure proper mounting, wiring, and system integration in compliance with project specifications.
Review and apply loco interface wiring diagrams to execute precise installation tasks.
System Integration: Interface Kavach with brake interface units and other locomotive subsystems.
Conduct checks to ensure reliable functionality of traction, braking, and control interfaces.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve interface or integration issues during installation.
Onsite Testing & Commissioning: Execute onsite testing of Kavach installations as per defined procedures.
Conduct functional validation, fault simulation, and performance checks.
Support commissioning and acceptance processes in line with RDSO and Indian Railways standards.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of installation, test results, and commissioning activities.
Report issues, deviations, and corrective actions to project and engineering teams.
Contribute to preparation of installation manuals and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Coordination & Support: Collaborate with project leads, depot staff, and engineering teams during execution.
Provide technical support during field activities and participate in customer training when required.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality requirements during all onsite work.
Technical Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of locomotive systems and Kavach retro-fitment.
Hands-on experience with brake interface units and Kavach system integration.
Ability to interpret and apply loco interface wiring diagrams.
Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with field teams and railway staff.
Knowledge of railway signaling principles, train control logic, and safety-critical systems.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
Desired Skills:
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Railway Engineering or related field.
3-6 years of experience in locomotive installation, integration, or testing (railway domain preferred).
Prior exposure to Kavach, ETCS, CBTC, or other train protection systems will be advantageous.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel frequently to locomotive depots, workshops, and project sites.
Knowledge of Indian Railway standards, RDSO processes, and safety regulations.
Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and process compliance in all aspects of work.
