Job Overview
The
Innovation Manager
for the Engineering function will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing innovative technologies, processes, and digital solutions to enhance engineering efficiency, reduce costs, and improve project execution in renewable energy EPC projects. This role will be based in
Noida
and will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, R&D partners, and technology providers to drive Avaada's leadership in sustainable energy innovation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Innovation Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute Avaada's engineering innovation roadmap, aligning with business goals and technological advancements in solar, wind, BESS, and green hydrogen.
Identify and evaluate emerging trends (e.g., AI/ML-driven design, digital twin, robotic construction, advanced PV technologies, floating solar).
Lead ideation workshops, hackathons, and proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to foster a culture of innovation.
2. Technology Scouting & Implementation
Pilot and deploy cutting-edge engineering tools (e.g., BIM, PVsyst, ETAP), automation, and digital solutions (IoT, predictive analytics) to optimize design and construction.
Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, Engineering, O&M) and external partners (startups, academia, tech vendors) to integrate scalable innovations.
Drive adoption of AI/ML for yield optimization, robotic cleaning systems, and smart energy management.
3. Process Optimization
Analyze engineering workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement lean/agile methodologies.
Develop standardized, modular designs for faster project execution and cost reduction.
Innovate in procurement strategies (e.g., alternative materials, circular economy principles).
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Project Management, Procurement, and Business Development to align innovations with project feasibility and client requirements.
Support technical due diligence for new technologies in bids and proposals.
Engage with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and advocate for innovative solutions.
5. IP & Knowledge Management
Identify patentable innovations and support IP filings.
Document case studies, best practices, and lessons learned for organizational learning.
Monitor competitor advancements and benchmark Avaada's engineering capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
Bachelor's/Master's degree
in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Renewable Energy, or related field).
10+ years
in engineering/R&D, with
5+ years in innovation roles
within renewable energy, EPC, or energy tech.
Proven experience in implementing innovations (e.g., bifacial solar, tracker systems, drone-based inspections, digital twin).
Technical & Soft Skills
Strong expertise in
renewable energy technologies
(solar PV, wind, BESS, green hydrogen).
Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Revit, ETAP) and data analytics tools.
Knowledge of
global standards
(IEC, IS, UL) and certifications.
Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for sustainability and disruptive technologies.
Added preferred Qualifications
Experience in
floating solar, agri-voltaics, or green hydrogen projects

Prior work with startups/incubators or technology scouting.
