INTRODUCTION : Infrastructure Architecture for Business Applications is responsible for defining & designing the infrastructure architecture of the corporate business applications managed by IT centrally & on a world-wide basis on-prem & on cloud. These platforms & Applications support all business processes of the company Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, HR, Quality, Finance etc.

SUMMARY : The job involves understanding requirements, leveraging with various technology components (front-end platforms, databases, servers, storage, and management networks) to curate suitable solutions - optimized for cost, performance, robustness and security. They need to factor operational aspects by ensuring, inter-alia, a consistent pattern of deployment leading to smooth implementations and operations. Ensure that the solution translated from business objectives is fit for purpose and clearly demonstrates value for money.

Infrastructure Architect plays the role of the lead/principal architect for engagements that are primarily in the infrastructure domain but impact the application groups while adhering to all the defined processes around architecture governance.

The role envisages playing the role of a strong influencer by identification of opportunities for improving Performance, Security and Costs in the ST Corporate Data Center & in cloud via concrete proposals & business case for adoption of new technologies to run operations in a more efficient and effective way.

The role also involves providing expert level support & clarifications to service managers and various operations teams on the environment and the dependencies/constraints.

Job owner will Lead/participate in strategic initiatives focused on the future state of infrastructure in a continuously evolving/agile IT scenario as ST expands aggressively its Digital Transformation journey.

Job owner will propose and participate in the discussion and adoption of the architecture principles, standards and patterns relevant to the infrastructure domain.
The role implies to work with teams spread across continents & domains
The architect will provide architectural and technical leadership in solving business problems by using innovative technology; both existing and new.
Work closely with IT security to design Cloud privacy architecture
When needed, work with technical teams to quickly prototype & execute timeboxed PoCs to demonstrate art of the possible & the direction to take. The architect will liaise with the wider Architect & innovation team & other stakeholders to collate and assess requirements and drive infrastructure enabling solutions.

Driving the cloud Solutioning (Azure , Hybrid Cloud) activities across multiple service lines and / or technology domains

Profile
Engineering Graduate Electronics / IT / CS
Expertise in infrastructure solutions : Architecture & Engineering aspects and/or strong and wide operational experience
Total years of experience : 10 to 12 years
Architecting Experience : 7 years
Experience designing and transferring applications to the cloud
Solid Understanding on Cloud computing and technology systems, Servers, Storage, HA/DR solutions, Networks, Security, Infrastructure tools and Automation,...
Able to navigate from high level strategical view to low level solution design
Good communications skills (written, oral, presentation)
Ability to present complex solutions in simple words
Ability to convince (from higher management level to operational experts)
Leadership skills, management by influence, coordination of project teams
Capability to work in an international environment, with international teams. Cross cultural awareness.
Autonomy and empowerment, trust building
Network architecture experience with IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing & firewalls.
Operating System exposure with multiple distro's (Unix / Linux / Windows Servers) & experience designing solutions for Database, Tech / Tools like: LDAP / IAM ,Active Directory, VMWare, Terraform, Docker/Containers, Ansible, Cloud native provisioning etc.
Experience in the introduction of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Policy-as-Code (PaC)
Strong architectural understanding through all architectural disciplines (Business, Data, Application, Technical and Security)
Designing technical cloud architectures for large enterprise
Design thinking, technical experimentation and proof of concepts
