Job Description

Infection Surveillance & Reporting



Conduct continuous surveillance of hospital-acquired infections in wards, ICUs, OTs, and other departments. Collect, analyze, and report infection data from patient records, microbiology labs, and incident reports. Investigate outbreaks, identify sources, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

Policy Implementation & Compliance



Develop, review, and implement hospital infection control policies and protocols. Ensure compliance with NABH standards, biomedical waste rules, and infection control guidelines. Liaise with local health authorities in case of notifiable diseases.
3.

Audits & Monitoring



Conduct regular infection control rounds in ICUs, OTs, wards, dialysis units, and high-risk areas. Monitor sterilization, disinfection, biomedical waste management, hand hygiene, and use of PPE. Audit and record infection control practices with timely corrective actions.
4.

Education & Training



Train and educate doctors, nurses, paramedics, and housekeeping staff on infection prevention. Conduct hand hygiene campaigns and orientation sessions for new staff. Organize refresher courses and awareness programs regularly.
5.

Outbreak & Incident Management



Identify and manage infection outbreaks, prepare root cause analysis reports. Investigate incidents like needle-stick injuries and initiate post-exposure prophylaxis. Recommend preventive and corrective actions for risk reduction.
6.

Documentation & Reporting



Maintain accurate records of surveillance data, infection rates, audits, and training sessions. Submit monthly/quarterly reports to the Infection Control Committee. Document compliance with statutory and accreditation requirements.
7.

Coordination & Collaboration



Work closely with the Infection Control Officer, microbiology department, and hospital administration. Participate in Infection Control Committee meetings and contribute to hospital-wide policies. Coordinate with housekeeping and engineering for maintaining safe environmental hygiene.

Qualifications & Skills



B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with specialized training in infection control. Minimum 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience; prior ICN experience preferred. Knowledge of NABH/JCI standards and biomedical waste rules. Strong observation, communication, and training skills.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)



Reduction in hospital-acquired infection rates. Compliance rate in hand hygiene audits. Timely reporting and closure of infection-related incidents. Number of staff trained in infection control practices.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
