Job Description

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating infection prevention and control practices across the hospital. The role ensures compliance with national and hospital guidelines, reduces the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and promotes patient and staff safety.

Key Responsibilities:



Monitor and investigate hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and prepare surveillance reports. Conduct daily rounds to ensure infection control practices in all departments. Develop, implement, and update infection prevention and control policies and protocols. Ensure proper sterilization, disinfection, biomedical waste management, and hand hygiene compliance. Train and educate doctors, nurses, and support staff on infection control practices. Conduct regular infection control audits (ICU, OT, wards, labs, etc.). Monitor and report needle-stick injuries, exposure incidents, and follow-up on post-exposure prophylaxis. Participate in outbreak investigation and implement corrective/preventive measures. Maintain records of sterilization indicators, infection rates, and compliance data. Collaborate with the Infection Control Committee and assist in NABH accreditation requirements. Promote awareness campaigns on infection prevention for staff, patients, and attendants.
