The Infection Control Nurse (ICN) will work as a part of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team under the supervision of the nursing department head. The ICN will be responsible for implementing and monitoring infection control measures, conducting surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), investigating outbreaks, educating staff, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Monitor, investigate, and report HAIs and outbreaks in the hospital
Conduct daily surveillance rounds in critical care and other hospital units to ensure compliance with infection prevention measures.
Maintain accurate records of infection data, ensuring timely reporting to the Hospital Infection Control Committee
Assist in collecting and analyzing surveillance and audit data in collaboration with the IPC team.
Present audit findings and performance metrics during audit days, staff training sessions, and management reviews.
Provide training and education on infection prevention and control to nursing, paramedical, and housekeeping staff.
Participate in the orientation and induction of new staff, ensuring awareness of infection control protocols.
Key Attributes Required
BSC Nursing /GNM with relevant experience as ICN
Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control guidelines, including NABH and other regulatory standards.
Excellent communication and teaching skills to educate staff and engage patients/relatives.
Analytical skills to interpret surveillance data and identify trends
