Job Description

The Infection Control Nurse (ICN) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining hospital infection prevention and control (IPC) practices. The ICN ensures compliance with national guidelines, reduces hospital-acquired infections, and promotes patient, staff, and visitor safety.

Key Responsibilities:



Monitor, investigate, and report hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). Develop, implement, and update infection control policies and protocols. Conduct regular hospital rounds to check adherence to hygiene and sanitation practices. Oversee sterilization and disinfection processes across all departments. Provide training and awareness programs to healthcare staff on infection prevention. Ensure proper use of PPE, hand hygiene, and bio-medical waste management. Participate in surveillance, outbreak investigation, and root cause analysis of infections. Maintain records, generate infection control reports, and present data to the Infection Control Committee. Liaise with microbiology, housekeeping, and other departments to enforce IPC measures. Audit hospital practices (OT sterility, central sterile supply department, isolation rooms, etc.) regularly. Stay updated on national/international infection control guidelines (NABH, JCI, WHO, CDC).
