Head - Manufacturing / Production Manager / Plant Head

Job Purpose

To improve

productivity, cost efficiency, and process effectiveness

in the Sheet Metal Division by applying

industrial engineering principles

, optimizing layouts, reducing cycle time, improving manpower utilization, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across cutting, bending, welding, and fabrication processes.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcess & Productivity Improvement

Conduct

time & motion studies

for CNC laser/plasma cutting, press brake, bending, rolling, welding, and fabrication operations. Analyze

cycle time, takt time, line balancing

, and bottlenecks to improve throughput. Implement

standard work procedures (SOPs)

and process optimization techniques. Improve

OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

of CNC machines and fabrication equipment.
Layout & Capacity Planning

Design and optimize

shop floor layouts

for smooth material flow and reduced handling. Perform

capacity planning

and manpower planning for sheet metal production lines. Support new machine installation, layout modification, and line expansion projects.
Cost Reduction & Efficiency

Identify opportunities for

cost reduction

, scrap reduction, and yield improvement. Monitor and reduce

material wastage

, rework, and idle time. Support

VA/VE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering)

initiatives.
Industrial Engineering & Data Analysis

Develop

production norms, standard times, and productivity benchmarks

. Maintain and analyze

MIS reports

, productivity dashboards, and performance KPIs. Support production planning with

accurate routing and standard time data

.
Quality, Safety & Lean Manufacturing

Implement

Lean Manufacturing tools

: 5S, Kaizen, SMED, Poka-Yoke, Visual Management. Support

ISO / QMS / TPM

initiatives related to shop floor efficiency. Ensure ergonomic practices and safety compliance in sheet metal operations.
Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate with

Production, Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Design

teams. Support new product introduction (NPI) from process feasibility and capacity perspective.

Educational Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech - Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering

Diploma with strong IE experience may be considered
Experience

3-8 years

of experience in

sheet metal / fabrication / heavy engineering / EPC manufacturing

Exposure to

CNC cutting, press brake, welding, and fabrication shops

is mandatory
