The Industrial Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative, functional, and ergonomic machinery for the jewellery manufacturing industry. This role combines creativity, engineering expertise, and practical manufacturing insights to produce machines that are efficient, safe, and user-friendly. The Industrial Designer collaborates closely with engineering, production, and R&D teams to ensure designs are production-ready, technically sound, and aesthetically appealing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Output & Quality
Develop machine and tool designs using
AutoCAD
and
SolidWorks
.
Ensure a high percentage of CAD designs are approved without major revisions.
Produce prototypes from CAD models for validation and testing.
3D Modeling & Technical Documentation
Create accurate and complete 3D models and technical drawings.
Translate concepts into detailed CAD models and documentation within project timelines.
Collaboration & Project Delivery
Deliver design outputs on schedule in coordination with engineers, chemists, and production teams.
Participate in cross-functional design reviews and implement actionable feedback.
Usability & Interface Design
Improve operator experience by designing intuitive machine control panels and interfaces.
Measure and enhance user satisfaction through iterative design improvements.
Material & Process Research
Research and select suitable materials, finishes, and manufacturing techniques.
Reduce material waste and manufacturing errors through optimized design choices.
Automation & Efficiency Improvements
Contribute to machine automation projects to enhance productivity and precision.
Measure improvements in operational efficiency and reduction in manual intervention.
Safety, Sustainability & Compliance
Ensure designs comply with safety standards, sustainability guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Implement necessary design changes to meet environmental and compliance standards.
Innovation & Continuous Learning
Drive design innovations, process improvements, and patents.
Stay updated on trends in CAD tools, machine automation, and industrial design practices.

Design & CAD Productivity:
Number of designs completed and approved using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, including prototypes.

Number of machines automated/upgraded and measurable improvements in productivity/precision.

Operator satisfaction and number of design improvements or innovations implemented.
Compliance & Sustainability:
Adherence to safety, regulatory, and sustainability standards in all designs.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
4-10 years in industrial design, preferably with machinery, tools, or process equipment.
CAD & Design Tools:
Proficient in 3D CAD software (
SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, Fusion 360
) and rendering tools (
KeyShot, Blender
).
Prototyping & Manufacturing:
Skilled in prototyping, materials selection, and
Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
.
Automation & Process Knowledge:
Experience contributing to machine automation and efficiency improvements.
Safety & Compliance:
Basic understanding of chemical safety, material compatibility, and design standards.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills for effective cross-functional teamwork.
