Job Description

An entry-level position focused on assisting senior chefs with food preparation, cleaning, and basic cooking tasks within the Indian kitchen. The primary goal is to learn, support the kitchen brigade, and maintain sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities



Mise-en-place Preparation:

Cut, chop, peel, and wash vegetables and meats. Prepare gravies, masalas, and marinations as directed by the Commis I or Chef de Partie.

Basic Cooking & Assistance:

Support the hot range by preparing ingredients and assisting with simple cooking tasks (e.g., rice, basic bread, boiling).

Station Hygiene:

Keep the assigned work area, kitchen tools, and equipment clean and sanitized according to HACCP/FSSAI standards.

Stock Management:

Assist in receiving, properly storing (FIFO), and organizing kitchen inventory and perishables.

Service Support:

Assist senior chefs during service hours to ensure food is prepared and plated in a timely manner.

General Duties:

Adhere to safety, hygiene, and uniform standards, and follow instructions from superiors.

Key Requirements



Experience:

0 to 2 years (freshers with a passion for cooking are encouraged).

Skills:

Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine, ingredients, and spices.

Attributes:

Willingness to learn, ability to work under pressure, good team player.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent (BHM/Culinary training is a plus).

Flexibility:

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required, culinary school a plus. Experience Minimum one (1) year experience as line cook and six (6) months as pantry/ prep cook; OR equivalent combination.
