Job Title: Indian Chef
Location: Cafe Khoblu
Reporting To: Head Chef
Role Overview
Responsible for preparation, cooking, and presentation of Indian dishes as per cafe standards
Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation
Support the Head Chef and step in during peak hours or staff absence
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation and Cooking
Prepare and cook Indian dishes including curries, dals, vegetables, rice items, breads, and accompaniments
Handle gravies, masalas, tempering, and spice balance accurately
Follow standardised recipes, portion sizes, and plating guidelines
Ensure timely preparation and smooth order flow during service
Complete daily mise en place and prep tasks
2. Kitchen Operations and Service Support
Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team during service
Manage assigned Indian section independently
Step in to support other sections during rush hours or staff shortages
Follow opening and closing kitchen procedures as per SOPs
3. Quality Control and Consistency
Maintain consistency in taste, aroma, texture, and presentation
Conduct self-checks and tastings before and during service
Report quality issues, shortages, or equipment problems immediately
4. Hygiene, Safety, and Compliance
Maintain personal hygiene, grooming, and uniform standards
Follow FSSAI food safety and hygiene guidelines at all times
Ensure proper storage, labelling, and FIFO practices
Use kitchen equipment safely and report faults immediately
5. Inventory and Wastage Control
Assist in daily stock checks and ingredient planning
Monitor usage of spices, oils, and raw materials
Minimise wastage through proper handling and portion control
Inform the Head Chef about low stock or ordering requirements
6. Teamwork and Discipline
Follow instructions from the Head Chef and management
Maintain punctuality, discipline, and professionalism
Communicate clearly with kitchen and service staff
Contribute to a respectful and efficient kitchen environment
7. Training and Development
Participate in trainings, tastings, and menu trials
Learn and adapt to new dishes and menu updates
Assist in guiding junior kitchen staff when required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
