INDIA FELLOWS ASSOCIATE

Acumen is looking for an exceptional individual with 3-5 years of experience to join the team that is taking our Leadership work in India to the next level. In this role, you will support the management of this flagship program and support on key community initiatives.

About Leadership

The Acumen India Fellows Program is a one-year, fully-funded leadership development program that gives up to 20 individuals from across India the training they need to accelerate their social impact and leadership potential. Our Fellows Programs provide emerging leaders the opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded individuals, participate in world-class training seminars, and develop new skills to accelerate their own growth and the trajectory of their work and the work of their organizations. With over 90 Fellows in India now, and over 400 globally, we are thinking about the next chapter of our work in India, which includes supporting our Fellows in their life long journey beyond their Fellowship year, \xe2\x80\x9cBeyond Year 1 Programming\xe2\x80\x9d, and executing on a growth strategy to build the leadership capacity of more social change leaders in India.

About the Role

Candidates must have a long-term commitment to the development of India, as well as a deep commitment to Acumen\xe2\x80\x99s mission of solving the toughest problems of poverty, and a passion for leadership development. The Fellows Associate will work in close collaboration with the East Africa and Pakistan Fellows Teams. S/he will report to the India Fellows Manager.

Their primary responsibility will be to support, and in some cases manage, operational aspects of the India Fellows Program and Beyond Year 1 programming. S/he will work closely with the India Fellows Manager and India Fellows Senior Associate to deliver all parts of both the Fellowship Program as well as the Beyond Year 1 and Community Programming, specifically serving in four critical areas:

1. Recruitment and Selection

  • Recruitment Strategy and Execution \xe2\x80\x93 Support design and execution of recruitment strategy to recruit 20 fellows, including outreach to Fellows, peer organizations, social media, and the press, and lead revision of all recruitment materials
  • Execute Selection Process \xe2\x80\x93 Execute recruitment and selection process from application reviews to reference checks and final cohort announcement. This includes managing recruitment efforts, applicant tracking system, serving as primary point of contact for applicants, conducting interviews, and execution of \xe2\x80\x98Selection Conference\xe2\x80\x99, an annual day-long interview event
  • Build Pipeline - Cultivate and manage recruitment relationships and build candidate pipeline
2. Program Administration
  • Operations \xe2\x80\x93 Oversee all logistics associated with execution of training seminars and any other Beyond Year 1 or community programming
  • Data Collection & QA \xe2\x80\x93 Design and document all data relevant for evaluating program effectiveness, including managing QA, feedback forms, and Fellows\xe2\x80\x99 own progress inside and outside seminars
3. Community Management
  • Connecting and supporting \xe2\x80\x93 Support in development of a robust and active Fellows community, connecting Fellows to new individuals, networks, or opportunities that contribute to their leadership development and/or their social impact
  • Community Programming Execution \xe2\x80\x93 Support the building and executing of community projects based on India strategy
  • BY1 Execution\xe2\x80\x93 Support the building and executing of BY1 projects based on India strategy
  • Support Partner Management\xe2\x80\x93 Support engagement of partners/prospects locally by helping draft reports for funders; writing quarterly partner updates; creating presentations for pitches to prospective funders
4. Marketing and Communications
  • Communications execution \xe2\x80\x93 Execute outreach and communications strategy for India Fellows Program which includes support in creating content, managing a listserv of the wider Acumen community, and organizing outreach events for recruitment
  • Database management \xe2\x80\x93 Manage and update India Fellows Database; track Fellow\xe2\x80\x99s achievements and collaborations
  • Social Media management - Leverage social media to engage our community (i.e. Fellows Facebook group, Acumen\xe2\x80\x99s blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.); draft announcements and press releases; share Fellows stories throughout the year
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in a related field (preferably in training, fellowships or leadership development)
  • Prior work experience in a fast-paced environment, ability to work efficiently against tight deadlines
  • Familiarity and exposure to the field of social enterprise and poverty alleviation preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, comfort representing the India Program externally
  • A self-starter, able to see opportunities and make the most of them
