Purpose of the role





The Inclusion & Accessibility Lead supports the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility and the International Education product group in general in shaping, developing, and stimulating activities that promote and enable EDIB and accessibility. This role works with the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility and International Education (its Board and all colleagues) to set our ambition for both our people and our products, and to focus on the things that will have the most (preferably measurable) impact.





Together with the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility, the Lead will make an evident difference and provide support to our colleagues and stakeholders, of all backgrounds, life experiences and differences, and help us to appreciate what we have in common, respect different perspectives, and enable vital conversations.




Key accountabilities





Provide support to the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility and the product group to ensure high-level engagement and that EDIB considerations inform our overall strategy and planning


Based on the IE EDIB strategy support the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility to define annual EDIB objectives for the product group and report against these monthly, working with Business Performance, People & Culture, Education Futures, International Network and other functions as appropriate Contribute to the development of International Education's strategy and plans, specifically with an EDIB & accessibility perspective Work with the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility to deliver accessibility compliance programmes according to disability / accessibility legislation in the regions we operate in. Work on creating a global inclusion framework for our schools that will include producing resources the schools can draw from and designing training to be delivered to teachers and school leaders. Embed EDIB and accessibility within product development by establishing a baseline and work towards creating a framework that can be used by content creating teams within IE. Review existing documentation on cultural considerations and EDIB with a view to updating and creating resources that can be used by all teams within IE. Lead the work to establish EDIB & accessibility KPIs; create an EDIB dashboard for IE to report to the IE Board regularly (in collaboration with Business Performance, People & Culture and the Global EDIB Director) and highlight areas where action is required. Showcase EDIB activities in International Education through regular internal communication and championing of progress. Act as a mentor to the Inclusion & Accessibility Coordinator. Propose strategies and tools for consideration to International Education's business performance processes that address bias in more rigorous ways.



Deputising for the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility



Act as the senior delegate for the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility as needed, representing Cambridge in discussions, and strategic planning sessions. Support the EDIB & accessibility product strategy for International Education (education reform, publishing and qualifications) With the Marketing team, help communicate externally our EDIB product strategy, so that schools, learners, governments and readers recognize EDIB as central to our offer. Help expand the EDIB internships programme within IE. Promote and advertise EDIB events; liaise with external comms to promote EDIB posts. Organise EDIB events with support from the Inclusion & Accessibility Coordinator. Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of EDIB specialists and accessibility experts to create a pool of freelancers our teams can use (e.g. for accessibility audits, EDIB reviews, cultural considerations checks).



Supporting EDIB among International Education people




Ensure the voice of colleagues is heard in EDIB discussions; meet with colleagues globally to understand their needs and perspectives and use this to inform developments and priorities Together with the Head of Inclusion & Accessibility be the 'go to' support person on EDIB issues, where people can rely on confidentiality and guidance

International Education's wider senior leadership, supporting and challenging them as they create and lead our product group



International Education's colleague representatives (e.g. Staff Consultative Committee) and the Cambridge staff networks and, ensuring that colleagues' voices are central and informs what we do



Business Performance colleagues, and colleagues who work on internal and external communications.



The colleagues and teams within International Education (e.g. Products and Services, Marketing, Business Performance Compliance) who are working on making our qualifications, publishing and education reform projects appropriate for equality, accessibility, and support for learners with special educational needs and disabilities.



The Global Director EDIB, Heads of EDIB in other product groups, and EDIB groups within Cambridge; People and Culture colleagues; so that International Education efforts are located within the overall Cambridge strategy for EDIB




Essential knowledge




Qualifications

: A degree in Social Sciences would be desirable

Knowledge of:

Familiarity with pertinent legislations (e.g. European Accessibility Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equality Act 2010) A good understanding of concepts such as privilege, intersectionality, power dynamics, feminist theory, disability justice and LGBTQ+ advocacy Knowledge of WCAG standards and Universal Design Principles Data collection and analysis; impact measurement Designing and delivering workshops and trainings



Essential skill(s) & experience




Awareness of cultural nuances, especially in international education contexts. Willingness to understand other cultures and people with lived experiences outside one's own Commitment to and passion for equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging agenda Experience working on accessibility (or relevant training) Familiarity with anti-discrimination laws, equal opportunity policies, and human rights legislation. Understanding institutional policies and how to influence change within them.
