Job Purpose: The Incharge Chemical (QC) oversees the chemical analysis of cement, clinker, and raw materials, ensuring accurate composition results using XRF and ICP spectroscopy. They manage equipment calibration, conduct gravimetric and volumetric analyses, and ensure compliance with BIS standards. This role involves lab management, data reporting, and supporting R&D projects, while enforcing health, safety, and environmental protocols and upholding ethical standards in all testing activities.
Responsibilities:
Chemical Composition Testing:
Oversee the chemical analysis of cement, clinker, and raw materials using techniques such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) spectroscopy.
Ensure the accuracy of chemical composition results, including parameters like silica, alumina and iron oxide, adhering to BIS standards.
Equipment Calibration and Standardization:
Manage the calibration of analytical equipment, such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and pH meters, according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintain calibration records and ensure adherence to calibration schedules to guarantee the precision of chemical analyses.
Gravimetric and Volumetric Analysis:
Conduct gravimetric analysis for determining constituents like calcium carbonate and perform volumetric titrations for quantifying chemical compounds.
Validate and cross-check results through repeatability and reproducibility tests, ensuring consistency across all chemical analyses.
Lab Management and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with BIS norms by maintaining the chemical laboratory's infrastructure, including proper storage of reagents and handling of hazardous chemicals.
Manage lab inventory, including reagents, standards, and glassware, ensuring that all materials meet quality specifications and are properly labeled.
Data Management and Reporting:
Utilize Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for accurate recording and retrieval of chemical test data, including sample tracking and result reporting.
Prepare detailed chemical analysis reports, including graphical representations of data and trend analysis, for review by senior management.
Support for Research and Development (R&D):
Provide chemical analysis support for R&D projects, including testing new additives and alternative materials to assess their impact on product quality.
Collaborate with R&D teams to evaluate new testing methods and technologies, supporting innovation in cement formulations.
Marketing Sample and R&R Testing:
Perform chemical testing on marketing samples and R&R samples to ensure product quality before market release.
Provide technical expertise during customer quality discussions, addressing any issues related to chemical composition and product specifications.
Regulatory and BIS Compliance:
Ensure that all chemical testing procedures align with BIS standards and other regulatory requirements, including maintaining records for compliance audits.
Stay informed about updates to regulations and standards, adjusting testing protocols as necessary to ensure ongoing compliance.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols in the chemical laboratory, including proper handling of chemicals and emergency response procedures.
Ensure environmental compliance related to chemical waste disposal and manage the safe storage of hazardous materials.
Ethics and Quality Assurance:
Uphold ethical standards in chemical testing, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and integrity in all test results.
Implement internal quality assurance practices to prevent data manipulation and ensure adherence to testing standards.
Organizational Skills:
Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of departmental objectives and projects.
Implement best practices in workflow management to reduce bottlenecks and improve output quality.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and demands with agility.

Qualifications:
Education Qualification:
BSc and MSc in Chemistry. Certified Internal Quality Auditor (ISO9001 - 2015) with knowledge of EN standards.
Work Experience:
8+ years of experience in chemical analysis within the cement industry, including expertise in using XRF and ICP spectroscopy.
Industry Knowledge:
Deep understanding of chemical composition testing methods and laboratory management in cement production. Skilled in regulatory compliance, data management, and providing support for R&D and marketing sample testing.
