& Summary: The Climate & Energy Advisory practice is actively involved in shaping the future of the energy industry by supporting governments, regulators, utilities, development agencies and investors in climate and energy transition, developing sustainable business models, industry decarbonisation, business transformation and technology enablement. The Utility Transformation team, integral part of the Climate & Energy Advisory practice, is focused on the power sector for framing sector-specific policies and regulations, designing and managing operational improvement and capital investment projects, defining operating models, and implementing smart grid / metering and custom-built digital solutions for utilities
Responsibilities:
The Utility Transformation team advises clients in improving their business performance and operational efficiency through process improvements and automation, data-driven decision making and other interventions. Further, the team actively collaborates with sector stakeholders to establish robust policy, regulatory and programme frameworks for seamless adoption of transformative technologies. Specific Expectations out of the Role: - The candidate will actively support the Director in Business Development, Account Management, Client Engagement and Delivery related activities in the areas of power market and power trading-focused advisory services and technology solutions (such as energy portfolio management, power trading automation, other utilities related automation projects). - The candidate will the lead team to deliver complex solutions to our clients involving strategy, design, implementation and benefit realisation. - The key clients will be public and private sector power utilities, power traders and large industries within and outside India. - The right candidate shall have a deep knowledge of power sector structure and functioning, along with experience in power markets operation, including but not limited to scheduling, forecasting, trading and all related processes and operations. - The candidate shall also support the management in other functions like tendering and market development activities, along with other activities in the benefit of the practice and the overall business. - Business Development & Outreach: Engage in business development activities, including preparing proposals, concept notes, discussion papers, and brochures. Actively support organizing roundtables, workshops, and stakeholder engagements if and as needed.
- Data Analysis: Undertake data compilation, tracking, and analysis on energy market parameters, and support project execution through analyses, reports, and presentations. - Research & Reporting: Conduct primary and secondary research, with strong report writing skills, focused on policy, and regulatory provisions - Policy Analysis: Analyse Central and State-level Renewable Energy policies, contributing to a broader understanding and vision of energy transition. - Financial Modelling: Develop financial and cost optimization models, including cost benefit analysis for electricity Generation, Transmission, and Distribution related activities, independently. Ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks and provide prompt assistance to team members. - Execute policy and regulatory consulting assignments in the energy sector. - The candidate will handle specific business outcomes.
Mandatory skill sets:
- The candidate should possess consulting skills and experience; experience in developing and delivering business presentations; excellence in visualising data, synthesising insights and storytelling with data; creative problem-solving skill; sharp communication and fluency in English language. - Proven experience in handling account management, delivery and business development tasks within the electricity distribution sector. - Familiarity with power distribution and trading operations and schemes/regulations in the energy industry.
