Job Summary:
We are seeking a competent and proactive Tooling In Charge to manage the complete tooling lifecycle within the SCM department. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in handling tools used in machining and manufacturing environments, including procurement, storage, issuance, maintenance coordination, and consumption monitoring. The role requires strong technical understanding of cutting tools, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and other tooling components used in machining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Tooling Management & Control
Oversee daily tooling operations including receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of all tools.
Maintain optimum inventory levels of tools and consumables to ensure uninterrupted production.
Implement effective tool management systems to minimize tool loss, misuse, and downtime.
Ensure proper tagging, identification, and storage of tools as per standards.
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate with SCM for purchasing new tools, tool refurbishment, and replacements.
Evaluate tool vendors based on quality, pricing, and delivery timelines.
Ensure timely follow-up with suppliers for deliveries and service support.
Technical & Production Support
Support production teams by ensuring correct tools are available as per machining requirements.
Maintain knowledge of tool specifications, tool life, tool performance, and compatibility with CNC/VMC/HMC machines.
Work closely with maintenance and production teams for tooling improvements and cost reduction.
Inventory Monitoring & Documentation
Prepare and maintain detailed records of tool usage, tool life, and consumption patterns.
Conduct periodic stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.
Ensure documentation compliance for ISO/quality audits.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for tool cost optimization and efficiency improvement.
Suggest and implement initiatives for improving tool storage systems, handling methods, and monitoring mechanisms.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of tooling used in machining and component manufacturing.
Familiarity with CNC/VMC/HMC machining processes and tool selection.
Hands-on experience with tooling inventories and tool management software (if any).
Good coordination, communication, and vendor management skills.
Analytical mindset with focus on cost control and process improvement.
