The Import Export Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of moving goods across international borders. This includes coordinating transportation, ensuring customs clearance, maintaining documentation, and adhering to trade regulations. The role requires a commitment to timely delivery while optimizing costs and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation Management:
Prepare and review all necessary import/export documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin) ensuring accuracy and compliance with international regulations.
Logistics Coordination:
Source and negotiate with freight forwarders and carriers, arrange transportation and warehousing, and track shipments throughout the logistics chain.
Customs Clearance:
Manage customs procedures for imports and exports, classify goods with HTS codes, and calculate and pay relevant duties and taxes.
Compliance Management:
Stay informed about international trade regulations, manage export licenses and permits, and ensure adherence to all trade laws.
Cost Management:
Negotiate freight rates and analyze logistics costs to identify savings opportunities.
Customer Service:
Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and freight forwarders to resolve inquiries and manage shipment status updates.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong understanding of international trade laws and regulations
Expertise in import/export documentation and customs procedures
Knowledge of Incoterms and their applications
Proficiency in logistics software and shipment tracking systems
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
