Position Summary



The

PYP Coordinator (PYPC)

will serve as the

pedagogical leader and academic anchor

for the IB Primary Years Programme at RISE International School. The role requires a strategic blend of

instructional leadership, curriculum expertise, professional development facilitation

, and close coordination with the

International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)

.

The PYPC will work closely with school leadership and teachers to ensure successful implementation and continuous improvement of the PYP framework and will act as a mentor, coach, and facilitator in building a high-impact academic culture.

Key Responsibilities



Curriculum Leadership



Lead and oversee the implementation of the IB PYP across Nursery to Grade 5. Ensure alignment of the Programme of Inquiry (POI) with IB standards and RISE's vision. Manage curriculum development, review cycles, and mapping processes. Monitor and review the fidelity of implementation of the PYP, ensuring systematic planning, reinforcement, and revision.

Instructional Support



Facilitate collaborative planning sessions and mentor teachers in inquiry-based, transdisciplinary teaching. Promote best practices in concept-driven instruction and authentic assessment strategies. Guide staff in integrating global contexts, learner profile attributes, and Approaches to Learning (ATL).

IB Liaison & Compliance



Serve as the key liaison between the school and the IBO. Ensure all IB documentation, practices, and evidences are up to date for authorization and evaluation visits. Lead self-study processes and prepare the school for IB reviews.

Professional Development



Design and conduct training sessions, workshops, and ongoing PD programs for staff. Identify faculty development needs and recommend/coordinate IB-certified workshops (Category 1/2/3). Promote action research, reflective practice, and continuous learning.

Leadership & Administration



Coordinate with leadership and administration to align school vision with IB requirements. Provide input on budget planning related to curriculum and professional development. Supervise the PYP team in a dotted-line capacity under the guidance of the Director. Stay updated on global educational resources and IB updates to inform program development.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement



Organize parent orientation sessions to build awareness and understanding of the PYP framework. Collaborate with support staff and academic teams to enhance student experience. Contribute to special projects, both internal and external, to strengthen the school's IB footprint.

Qualifications & Experience



Required:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a relevant field. 5-10 years of experience in primary education, including 2-3 years in an IB PYP setting. Strong grasp of IB philosophy, transdisciplinary unit planning, and assessment criteria. Proven experience in teacher mentoring, team leadership, and curriculum planning.

Preferred:



Certified in IB PYP workshops (Category 1/2/3). Experience in IB authorization or evaluation visits. Familiarity with inclusive education, student agency, and digital integration in IB environments.
