Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Set up, operate, and adjust the

ID welding head

during the

online SAW process

for continuous pipe welding. Monitor welding parameters (voltage, current, travel speed, wire feed rate) and adjust to ensure

full penetration and consistent weld quality

. Ensure

proper centering and alignment

of the internal welding head with the seam line and OD welding station. Coordinate in real-time with the

OD welding operator

,

line operators

, and

control room technicians

to maintain welding synchronization. Visually inspect internal weld seams and identify defects such as undercut, overlap, or lack of fusion. Record production data, parameter settings, and any deviation reports for each weld shift. Conduct

routine maintenance

, cleaning, and calibration of the internal welding system to minimize downtime. Ensure compliance with

quality standards

(e.g., API 5L, ISO 3183) and follow all

HSE protocols

. Support quality control and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) personnel during weld inspections.

Requirements:

High School Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate

in welding or mechanical trade.

2-4 years of experience

operating welding equipment in a

SAW pipe manufacturing environment

, preferably online systems. Strong knowledge of

SAW welding principles

,

ID/OD weld alignment

, and

pipe mill operations

. Familiarity with

automation systems

,

PLC interfaces

, and

parameter monitoring software

. Ability to interpret

weld maps, specifications, and standards

like API, ASTM, ISO. Good teamwork, communication skills, and attention to detail. Physically fit, able to work in confined spaces and extended shifts if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in

automatic SAW welding systems

. Certified Welder or Welding Operator as per AWS/API standards. Knowledge of

pipe tracking systems

, weld data logging, and HMI-based control interfaces.
