The ICU/CCU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients, ensuring continuous monitoring, timely interventions, and maintaining patient safety as per hospital protocols and medical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Monitoring
Provide round-the-clock nursing care to critically ill patients.
Monitor and record vital signs (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature, oxygen saturation).
Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the physician or ICU In-Charge.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as per doctor's orders.
Assist in intubation, ventilation, and resuscitation procedures when required.
Equipment Handling
Operate and maintain ICU/CCU equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, infusion pumps, monitors, and suction machines.
Ensure all equipment is functional, cleaned, and calibrated regularly.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate nursing notes, patient charts, and treatment records.
Document intake/output, medications administered, and nursing observations.
Report incidents or critical situations promptly.
Infection Control & Safety
Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and standard precautions.
Maintain hygiene and aseptic techniques during procedures.
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with doctors, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare staff for comprehensive patient care.
Provide information and emotional support to patient attendants as per policy.
Emergency Response
Respond promptly to code blue and other emergency calls.
Assist in CPR and other lifesaving procedures.
Training & Development
Participate in regular training sessions and skill enhancement programs.
Guide and support junior nurses and nursing students posted in ICU/CCU.
