The Intensive Care Nurse (ICN) provides high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill or injured patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICN monitors vital signs, administers medication, operates life-support equipment, and collaborates closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure the best patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct patient care to critically ill patients in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
Monitor and assess patient vital signs, consciousness levels, and overall health status.
Administer IV fluids, medications, and blood products as prescribed.
Operate and maintain life-support equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, etc.
Perform emergency interventions (e.g., CPR, code blue response).
Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in patient medical records.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient condition and care plans.
Ensure infection control and patient safety protocols are followed.
Participate in patient care planning, shift handovers, and team meetings.
Support family members emotionally and provide education about the patient's condition and care needs.
Stay updated with the latest clinical guidelines and ICU best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in [State/Country].
Certification in Critical Care Nursing (e.g., CCRN) preferred or willingness to obtain.
BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a critical care or ICU setting preferred.
