Policy and protocol development:
Develop, implement, and update infection control protocols and policies.
Ensure policies are in line with regulations and best practices.
Monitor compliance with all infection prevention and control policies.
Education and training:
Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection prevention principles.
Educate patients on infection prevention measures.
Create and implement educational programs for all hospital employees.
Outbreak management:
Investigate potential outbreaks and identify their sources.
Coordinate responses to outbreaks to contain and control them.
Compliance and safety measures:
Monitor staff immunization status and compliance with guidelines.
Ensure proper handling of biomedical waste.
Promote and monitor hygiene practices like handwashing and proper cleaning and sterilization.
Assist in managing incidents like needle stick injuries.
Collaboration and coordination:
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, departments, and the microbiology laboratory.
Coordinate with the infection control committee and other stakeholders.
Quality improvement:
Participate in quality improvement activities to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
Make recommendations to improve infection control strategies and patient safety.
