Design engaging and challenging lessons that foster language proficiency, cultural understanding, critical thinking, and communication skills in Spanish.
Language Acquisition Instruction:
Provide instruction in Spanish language acquisition, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, at various proficiency levels (e.g., Standard Level, Higher Level).
Facilitate communicative activities, role-plays, debates, and discussions to enhance students\' language fluency and confidence in real-life contexts.
Literature Analysis and Study:
Teach Spanish literature courses, guiding students in the analysis, interpretation, and appreciation of literary texts from diverse genres, time periods, and cultural backgrounds.
Explore thematic, stylistic, and historical aspects of Spanish literature through close reading, literary criticism, and comparative studies.
Cultural Competence:
Promote cultural awareness, sensitivity, and appreciation among students by exposing them to authentic Spanish-speaking cultures, traditions, customs, and current events.
Integrate cultural artifacts, multimedia resources, and experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum to deepen students\' understanding of Spanish-speaking societies.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments, including written assignments, oral presentations, exams, and projects, to evaluate students\' language proficiency and literary analysis skills.
Use IB assessment criteria to provide objective feedback and holistic evaluation of student performance, and support students in setting and achieving learning goals.
Individualized Support:
Provide individualized support and guidance to students who require additional assistance or enrichment in Spanish language acquisition or literature studies.
Offer personalized feedback, remediation, and extension activities to address students\' learning needs, interests, and goals.
Technology Integration:
Integrate technology tools and digital resources into Spanish instruction to enhance language learning, communication, and collaboration, such as language learning software, multimedia platforms, and virtual classrooms.
Encourage students to use technology for authentic language practice, research, multimedia projects, and online communication with native speakers.
IBDP Coordination:
Collaborate with other IBDP subject teachers, coordinators, and administrators to ensure alignment of curriculum, assessment practices, and pedagogical approaches across the program.
Participate in IBDP planning meetings, professional development sessions, and moderation activities to maintain program coherence and quality assurance.
Parent Communication:
Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on student progress, academic performance, and participation in Spanish language and literature activities and assessments.
Solicit parental support and involvement in students\' language learning and cultural exploration through home-based activities, discussions, and resources.
Professional Development:
Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance expertise in Spanish language teaching, IB pedagogy, assessment strategies, and technology integration.
Attend IB workshops, conferences, and training sessions related to language acquisition, literature studies, and IBDP curriculum implementation, and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources.
