The IB Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for the effective implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme in the school. This role ensures that the IB philosophy, standards, and practices are fully embedded in teaching, learning, and assessment across the school. The coordinator acts as a liaison between the IB organization, school leadership, teachers, students, and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Planning and Implementation
Oversee the design, documentation, and delivery of the IB curriculum (PYP as of now MYP planning in progress)
Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of the curriculum across grade levels.
Guide teachers in developing unit plans, assessments, and learning experiences in line with IB standards.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum implementation.
Teacher Support and Professional Development
Provide pedagogical leadership and mentoring to faculty.
Plan and conduct in-house IB training and workshops.
Support teachers in integrating inquiry-based, conceptual, and interdisciplinary learning approaches.
Facilitate collaboration among teaching teams for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects.
IB Compliance and Communication
Ensure all IB standards, practices, and deadlines are met.
Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the IB organization.
Prepare and submit reports, authorization, and evaluation documentation as required by the IB.
Maintain accurate and updated records of IB documentation and correspondence.
Student Learning and Assessment
Oversee the development and moderation of student assessments aligned with IB criteria.
Support teachers in using formative and summative assessments effectively.
Monitor student progress and ensure consistency in grading and reporting.
Community and Parent Engagement
Communicate the IB philosophy, practices, and assessment criteria to parents and the wider school community.
Organize parent orientation sessions and IB awareness programs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Master's/Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
IB certification/training preferred.
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in an IB school (experience in coordination or leadership preferred).
Strong understanding of IB philosophy, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
