Hydraulic and Process Engineer - Water & Wastewater

Location: Bangalore/ Mysore

Salary Range: 30K to 40K per month

Job Summary:

The Hydraulic and Process Engineer is responsible for the design, modelling, and analysis of hydraulic systems and treatment processes in water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This includes treatment plants, pumping stations, pipeline networks, reservoirs, and related facilities. The engineer ensures that the design meets functional, regulatory, and performance requirements, while also optimizing efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Process Engineering:

Design and develop water and wastewater treatment processes based on project requirements and influent characteristics. Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), mass balance, and P&IDs. Size and select treatment units such as screens, aeration systems, clarifiers, filters, chlorination systems, sludge handling units, etc. Perform process simulations and evaluate alternatives to optimize treatment efficiency, energy use, and O&M costs. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, discharge standards, and design guidelines.

Hydraulic Engineering:

Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis of gravity and pressurized systems (pipelines, pumping mains, channels etc). Design hydraulic profiles for treatment plants and conveyance systems. Perform pump sizing and selection, head loss calculations, surge and transient analysis. Support the design of reservoirs, wet wells, intake and outfall structures, and flow control systems. Use hydraulic modeling tools like EPANET, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, etc and GIS Softwares.

Project Coordination:

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) during design and execution phases. Support preparation of tender documents including technical specifications, design reports, and BOQs. Provide technical input during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Master's degree in water resources / environmental / Process Engineering (preferred).

Experience:

Min 2 years of experience in hydraulic and process design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies and design standards (e.g., CPHEEO, BIS, EPA, IWWA, AWWA etc.). Proficient in hydraulic modeling and analysis software (e.g., EPANET, WaterGems, SewerGEMS, Bentley Hammer, etc.). Understanding of SCADA and process control integration with treatment systems.
