Position Summary

The HVAC Project Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the financial and operational performance of HVAC projects. This role ensures that projects stay on schedule, within budget, and compliant with company standards. The Project Controller acts as a liaison between project management, finance, procurement, and field teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and efficient project execution.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Financial Management

Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses. Track job costs including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and change orders. Review and validate project invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments. Monitor project profitability and provide early warning on potential cost overruns. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for ongoing projects.

Project Tracking & Analysis

Maintain project cost control systems and documentation. Produce detailed reports on project progress, productivity, and cost performance. Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and forecast. Assist project managers with schedule updates and resource planning. Track and ensure timely billing and revenue recognition per project milestones.

Operational Support

Collaborate with procurement to verify pricing, delivery, and cost allocations. Support project managers in preparing financial sections of proposals and change orders. Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and regulatory requirements. Participate in project review meetings and provide data-driven insights.

Risk Management

Identify financial and operational risks and recommend corrective actions. Ensure proper documentation of scope changes, claims, and contingencies. Maintain audit-ready files and follow internal control procedures.

QualificationsEducation

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).

Experience

2-5+ years of project controlling, cost accounting, or financial analysis experience. Experience in HVAC, construction, mechanical contracting, or engineering environments strongly preferred.
