The Hull Welding Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all hull welding activities during ship construction and repair, ensuring that welding work is carried out as per approved drawings, welding procedures, class requirements, and safety standards within planned timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate hull welding activities including block fabrication, panel assembly, erection, and outfitting stages.
Ensure welding is carried out as per approved
WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)
and shipyard standards.
Coordinate with QC, NDT, planning, and hull fabrication teams for inspections and approvals.
Ensure proper usage of welding consumables, equipment, and tools.
Identify and rectify welding defects; oversee repair welding as per approved procedures.
Conduct toolbox talks and enforce PPE usage at the worksite.
Support training and skill development of welders and helpers.
Coordinate with material stores for timely availability of plates, profiles, and consumables.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of ship hull structures, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
Hands-on experience with welding processes such as
SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW
.
Familiarity with Class Society rules (ABS, DNV, LR, BV, IRS, etc.).
Ability to manage manpower and meet production targets.
Good communication and team-handling skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making ability on site.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / ITI / Trade Certification in Welding or Mechanical discipline.
8-12 years
of experience in shipbuilding or ship repair, with at least
3-5 years
in a supervisory role.
Valid welder or welding supervisor certification (preferred).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
