To provide high-quality teaching and learning across the primary phase, delivering planned lessons during teacher absence, maintaining continuity of learning, and ensuring pupils make progress in line with school expectations.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons across the primary curriculum (EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2 as required)
Follow lesson plans provided by class teachers and adapt where necessary to meet pupils' needs
Assess pupils' learning during lessons and provide constructive feedback
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning, and achievement
Use a range of teaching strategies to support SEND, EAL, and disadvantaged pupils
Classroom Management
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
Manage behaviour effectively in line with the school's behaviour policy
Establish clear routines and expectations to ensure effective learning
Assessment & Reporting
Mark work in line with school policy
Provide verbal and written feedback to pupils
Report on pupil progress and any concerns to class teachers or phase leaders
Professional Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and school staff
Communicate effectively with parents when required
Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
Follow school policies and procedures, including health and safety
Participate in staff meetings and training where appropriate

Experience working in a primary school setting
Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum
Excellent classroom management skills
Ability to deliver high-quality lessons independently

Desirable
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
or
HLTA status
Experience covering whole classes independently
Experience working across multiple key stages
Training in SEND or behaviour management

The post holder will have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and must comply with the school's safeguarding policies. An enhanced DBS check is required.
