HR-Retail / Niche Electronics-Surat-1L
Experience: 6-10 years of HR experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, QSR, or multi-location operations
Role Overview
Company is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead end-to-end HR operations across 60 retail stores and 24 service centres. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in payroll and statutory compliance, proven experience in managing a large, geographically dispersed workforce, and the ability to partner strategically with business leaders. The incumbent will play a critical role in building scalable HR processes, strengthening employee engagement, and supporting business growth through effective people practices.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
1. Payroll & Compliance Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for store and service centre employees
  • Manage statutory compliances including PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, Gratuity, and other applicable labour laws
  • Coordinate with payroll vendors and the finance team for reconciliations and audits
  • Address payroll-related queries, corrections, and employee grievances
  • Ensure zero non-compliance, penalties, or statutory delays across locations
  • Maintain statutory registers, records, and compliance documentation
2. End-to-End HR Operations
  • Oversee the complete employee lifecycle from hiring to exit
  • Manage onboarding, confirmations, transfers, promotions, increments, and separations
  • Ensure accurate HR documentation, employee records, and HRIS data
  • Standardize and implement HR processes across all stores and service centres
3. Talent Acquisition & Manpower Planning
  • Partner with business heads to plan store-wise and centre-wise manpower requirements and ensure sufficient strength is maintained
  • Drive bulk hiring for frontline roles and lateral hiring for critical positions
  • Engage in setting up efficient process for screening of potential hiring to ensure job-fit for the candidates
  • Monitor and reduce time-to-hire and attrition, especially in store operations
  • Strengthen employee referral programs and local hiring channels
4. Employee Engagement & Retention
  • Design and execute engagement initiatives suitable for frontline, field, and store staff including arranging and managing R&R programs
  • Conduct employee engagement surveys, analyze insights, and drive action plans
  • Handle employee grievances with a structured, fair, and empathetic approach
  • Foster a positive, performance-driven, and disciplined workplace culture
5. Performance Management & People Development
  • Drive goal setting, performance reviews, and appraisal cycles
  • Coach managers in identifying and developing high-potential employees
  • Design and execute basic learning and development initiatives
  • Support career progression and succession planning for key roles
6. HR Policy & Governance
  • Draft, review, and implement HR policies aligned with business and statutory requirements
  • Ensure adherence to company policies including Zero Tolerance, POSH, and Code of Conduct
  • Act as the custodian of HR governance, ethics, and compliance
7. Strategic HR & Leadership Support
  • Partner with leadership on organization design, productivity improvement, and cost optimization
  • Use HR data and dashboards to provide insights on attrition, manpower, and performance trends
  • Support business expansion and new store/service centre setups with scalable HR strategies
  • Act as a trusted HR advisor to cluster managers and leadership team
8. Team & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead, guide, and develop the HR team across regions
  • Work closely with store managers, service heads, finance teams, and external consultants
  • Ensure consistent and effective HR service delivery across all locations
Qualifications & Experience
  • MBA / MSW / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent
  • 6-10 years of HR experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, QSR, or multi-location operations
  • Strong hands-on experience in payroll processing and statutory compliances
  • Proven capability in managing large frontline workforces across multiple locations
  • Sound knowledge of Indian labour laws and HR best practices
  • Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to balance operational excellence with strategic HR thinking
