Job Description

Key Responsibilities:



1. Payroll Processing & Vendor Governance



Oversee timely and accurate processing of monthly payroll in coordination with external payroll vendor partners. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, etc.) and internal controls. Perform payroll reconciliation checks and sign-offs before disbursement. Monitor SLAs and quality standards for payroll partners and ensure adherence to process accuracy, timelines, and audit readiness.

2. Payroll Input Management



Review and validate payroll input data including new hires, exits, compensation changes, variable payouts, leave data, and benefits. Maintain accuracy and completeness of data received from HRIS, Time & Attendance systems, and business functions.

3. Cost Governance & JV Management



Validate payroll cost allocations, cost center tagging, and GL mappings. Ensure correct journal entries (JVs) are reviewed and posted in the finance systems within defined timelines. Reconcile payroll-related accounts in coordination with the finance team.

4. Reporting & Analytics



Prepare and publish regular payroll reports, including headcount costing, variance analysis, YTD payroll summaries, and statutory reports. Support payroll-related budgeting and forecasting processes. Provide inputs for internal and external audits, statutory filings, and compliance reports.

5. Process Improvement & Controls



Drive standardization and automation of payroll processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. Define and monitor controls around payroll data governance, segregation of duties, and system security. Act as the custodian of payroll policy, SOPs, and risk registers related to payroll operations.

Key Requirements:



Education:

Graduate in Commerce / Accounting / HR; MBA/PGDM preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 11-13 years of experience in payroll operations.

Technical Skills:

+ Working knowledge of payroll processing systems (ADP, Ramco, Keka, Darwinbox, etc.)
+ Strong understanding of Indian payroll laws and statutory compliance.
+ Proficiency in Excel, payroll reporting, and financial reconciliations.
