is responsible for managing and maintaining healthy employee-employer relations, ensuring compliance with all labour laws, handling union matters, maintaining statutory records, and ensuring a productive and disciplined workforce. The role requires a blend of strong communication, legal understanding, and interpersonal skills to maintain a harmonious industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:1. Labour Relations & Employee Welfare
Maintain peaceful industrial relations by managing communication between management and workers/unions.
Resolve grievances of workmen promptly to prevent disputes and maintain workforce harmony.
Conduct regular meetings with union representatives and employee welfare committees.
Implement welfare measures such as canteen, transport, housing, safety, and health facilities.
2. Compliance & Statutory Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws -- Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Employees' Provident Fund Act, ESI Act, etc.* Maintain statutory registers, records, and returns as per government norms.
Coordinate with government departments during inspections, audits, and labour office visits.
Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports to management.
3. Workforce Management
Oversee attendance, leave management, overtime, and shift scheduling for workers.
Manage contract labour through coordination with contractors and ensure adherence to Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act*. Conduct manpower planning and ensure adequate workforce availability for production.
Handle disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, and misconduct cases following standing orders.
4. Training & Development
Identify training needs of workers and conduct skill upgradation programs.
Arrange awareness sessions on safety, hygiene, and labour rights.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
5. Communication & Reporting
Act as a liaison between factory management and HR head office.
Prepare MIS reports on labour strength, absenteeism, turnover, and grievances.
Support in collective bargaining and wage negotiations.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
MBA / PGDM in Human Resource Management, Labour Welfare, or Industrial Relations.
Experience:
5-10 years of experience in HR & IR functions, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of Indian labour laws, industrial relations practices, and statutory compliance.
Skills:
Negotiation, conflict resolution, leadership, communication, documentation, and government liaison.
Key Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
High integrity and confidentiality in handling employee issues.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage crisis situations.
Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
