The Hospital HR Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all Human Resource functions within the hospital. This role ensures compliance with healthcare labor laws, supports clinical and non-clinical staff, and promotes a positive, ethical, and patient-focused work culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment & Staffing
Plan and execute recruitment for doctors, nurses, paramedical, administrative, and support staff
Coordinate with department heads for manpower planning
Conduct interviews, background verification, and onboarding
Maintain staffing ratios as per hospital accreditation standards (NABH)
2. Employee Relations
Address employee grievances and disciplinary matters
Promote a positive and professional work environment
Handle conflict resolution and employee counseling
Ensure adherence to hospital policies and code of conduct
3. HR Operations & Administration
Maintain employee records, attendance, leave, and shift schedules
Oversee payroll coordination and statutory deductions
Manage HR documentation such as appointment letters, confirmations, transfers, and exits
Ensure smooth induction and exit formalities
4. Compliance & Legal
Ensure compliance with labor laws and hospital regulations (ESI, PF, CLRA, Shops & Establishment, POSH Act, etc.)
Conduct POSH awareness sessions and manage Internal Committee
Coordinate audits and inspections (Labour Dept., NABH, ISO)
5. Performance Management
Design and manage performance appraisal systems
Coordinate probation reviews and annual evaluations
Support department heads in goal setting and feedback
6. Training & Development
Identify training needs for clinical and non-clinical staff
Organize orientation, soft skills, and mandatory healthcare trainings
Maintain training records as per accreditation requirements
7. Compensation & Benefits

Benchmark compensation with healthcare industry standards
8. Policy Development
Draft, update, and implement HR policies and SOPs
Ensure policies align with healthcare ethics and patient safety standards

Monitor attrition and implement retention strategies
Organize employee engagement and wellness programs
Support hospital culture and employer branding initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:Education:
MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or related field.
Certification in Hospital Administration is an advantage
Experience:
5-10 years of HR experience
