The HR Manager in an FMCG company is responsible for managing end-to-end human resources functions, including recruitment, performance management, training & development, employee engagement, and compliance. The role requires strong understanding of fast-paced operations, labour-intensive workforce management, and cross-functional coordination typical of FMCG environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition & Manpower Planning
Develop and execute recruitment strategies for sales, manufacturing, supply chain, and corporate roles.
Conduct workforce planning in coordination with plant managers and sales heads.
Manage bulk hiring for field sales and factory operations.
Oversee onboarding and induction processes.
2. Employee Relations & Engagement
Address employee grievances and maintain a healthy employee-management relationship.
Conduct engagement initiatives, R&R programs, and culture-building activities.
Monitor employee satisfaction and reduce attrition through proactive interventions.
3. Performance Management
Implement performance appraisal systems (KRA/KPI-based).
Coordinate mid-year and annual performance reviews.
Work with department heads to drive productivity improvement
4. Training & Development
Identify skill gaps and prepare training calendars for plant & sales staff.
Coordinate soft skills, technical, and compliance training programs.
Track training effectiveness and maintain learning records.
5. HR Operations & Compliance
Manage payroll inputs, attendance, and leave records.
Ensure statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, Factory Act, Shops & Establishment Act, labour laws).
Maintain HR documentation, MIS reports, and HRIS data.
6. Industrial Relations (IR) - for manufacturing units
Liaise with labour unions, contractors, and government bodies.
Handle disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, and plant-level negotiations.
Ensure smooth day-to-day HR functioning at factory premises.
7. Compensation & Benefits
Assist in salary benchmarking, increments, and incentive program management.
Administer employee welfare schemes and benefits.
Provide guidance on CTC structure, compliance deductions, and variable pay.
Qualifications & Skills
MBA/MSW in HR or equivalent.
5-8 years of HR experience, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR operations.
Experience in managing blue-collar workforce and field staff.
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Work Environment
Combination of plant visits, field coordination, and corporate office responsibilities.
Frequent interaction with sales teams, factory supervisors, and distributors.
High focus on productivity, efficiency, and employee retention.
