Job Description

1. Talent Acquisition & Credentialing

Unlike a typical office, hospital hiring requires rigorous vetting.

Specialized Recruiting:

Sourcing doctors, specialized nurses, lab technicians, and administrative staff.

Credentialing & Primary Source Verification:

Ensuring all medical staff have active licenses, certifications, and no history of malpractice.

Onboarding:

Orienting new staff on hospital protocols, patient privacy (HIPAA), and safety standards.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation

The HR Manager ensures the hospital stays "survey-ready" for healthcare accrediting bodies (like the Joint Commission).

Audit Readiness:

Maintaining meticulous personnel files that prove staff are qualified and vaccinated.

Labor Laws:

Ensuring compliance with healthcare-specific labor regulations and overtime laws.

Policy Development:

Creating and enforcing policies regarding patient interaction, ethics, and workplace safety.
3. Employee Relations & Retention

Healthcare is a high-stress environment with high burnout rates.

Burnout Management:

Implementing wellness programs and mental health support for frontline workers.

Conflict Resolution:

Mediating disputes between departments (e.g., between nursing and administration).

Retention Strategies:

Developing career ladders and competitive shift-differential pay to keep talent from moving to competitors.
4. Compensation & Benefits Administration

Shift Management:

Managing complex pay structures, including on-call pay, holiday premiums, and "float pool" incentives.

Benefits:

Administering specialized health insurance plans, retirement options, and professional liability insurance.
5. Training & Development

Clinical Training:

Coordinating mandatory annual training on life support (BLS/ACLS), infection control, and new medical technology.

Leadership Coaching:

Training Head Nurses and Department Chiefs on how to manage teams effectively.
