Job Title: HR Manager

Industry: DRI / Sponge Iron / Integrated Steel Plant Location: Plant Site Experience: 8-15 years (minimum 4-5 years in DRI/Sponge Iron/Heavy Manufacturing) Job Purpose To manage end-to-end Human Resources functions at a DRI/Sponge Iron manufacturing plant, ensuring statutory compliance, manpower planning, industrial relations, and workforce development in line with plant operations and production goals. Key Responsibilities 1. Manpower Planning & Recruitment Plan and execute manpower requirements for production, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, mining, and support functions Handle recruitment of executives, staff, contract labor, and technical manpower Coordinate with department heads for skill and shift-based manpower needs 2. Statutory Compliance & Labor Laws Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and statutory requirements, including: Factories Act Contract Labour Act PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity Minimum Wages Act Industrial Disputes Act Liaison with labor department, factory inspector, PF & ESI authorities 3. Industrial Relations (IR) Maintain healthy industrial relations at the plant Handle union interactions, negotiations, and grievance redressal Manage disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, and settlements Prevent and resolve labor disputes, strikes, or unrest 4. Contract Labor Management Manage contract labor deployment as per statutory norms Ensure compliance of contractors with labor laws Maintain contractor documentation, licenses, and audits 5. Payroll & Compensation Oversee payroll processing (permanent & contract employees) Implement wage structures, incentives, and attendance systems Ensure timely statutory deductions and submissions 6. Performance Management & Training Implement performance appraisal systems Identify training needs for shop-floor and technical staff Coordinate safety, skill development, and statutory trainings 7. HR Policies & Administration Develop and implement HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbook Handle employee engagement, welfare activities, and plant administration Maintain HRMIS, employee records, and reports 8. Safety & Compliance Support Support EHS initiatives and statutory safety requirements Coordinate medical, canteen, transport, and welfare facilities Required Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of DRI/Sponge Iron plant operations environment Hands-on experience in IR & statutory compliance Ability to handle large blue-collar and contract workforce Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills Good communication and leadership abilities Educational Qualification MBA / MSW / PGDM in HR / Personnel Management Labor Law specialization preferred Preferred Background Experience in Sponge Iron / DRI / Steel
