Job Description


Under the guidance of the HR Team Members and overall supervision of the Head of HR, the HR intern will be expected to undertake the following responsibilities: * Coordinate Chart of Accounts (COA) Updates :Liaise with various teams to support updates to the Chart of Accounts, as guided by the Head of HR and designated HR focal points, ensuring accurate alignment of positions and funding lines.

  • Track COA Changes: Support in maintaining a simple tracking mechanism to monitor and log changes made to the COA over time, supporting transparency and consistency in HR operations.
  • Maintain Candidate Roster: Keep the roster of selected candidates up to date, ensuring accurate records for upcoming recruitments, onboarding processes, and organizational planning.
  • Assist with TRIP Profile Management : Support the creation and updating of staff Travel Request Information Processing (TRIP) profiles, working with relevant units to ensure smooth travel authorization processes.
  • Support Recruitment and Onboarding :Assist the HR team throughout the recruitment cycle-from scheduling interviews to preparing onboarding materials-ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for new hires.
  • Monitor Completion of Mandatory Courses : Help maintain the tracker for mandatory training courses, cross-check records with teams to ensure staff compliance and data accuracy.
  • Coordinate Learning & Engagement Activities : Assist in planning and organizing staff learning sessions, training workshops, and engagement events. This includes handling logistics, preparing materials, and designing internal communications.
  • Contribute to Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives : Bring fresh ideas and help implement small initiatives that promote an inclusive workplace culture, aligned with UNDP's values of equity and representation

Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong ability to conduct literature reviews, analyze policies, and synthesize findings into concise reports.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, validation, and interpretation.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required, and experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data sources such as government reports, international databases, and policy documents.
  • Experience in fact-checking references, cross-verifying sources, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Ability to present complex information in a concise and accessible format for diverse audiences.
  • Interest and motivation in working in an international organization.
  • Good analytical skills in gathering and consolidating data and research for practical implementation.
  • Outgoing and initiative-taking person with a goal-oriented mind-set.

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of application:
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master's programme or higher) in one of the following programmes: Business & Administration, Human Resources or other relevant subjects.
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the above field.
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation;
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program preferably in economics or related field and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Mentorship:
The HR intern will be paired with a dedicated mentor from their respective team. The mentor will provide professional guidance, help the intern navigate the work environment, offer feedback, and support their overall learning and growth during the internship period.
Learning Opportunities: Interns will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences related to UNDP's work. These may include participating in team discussions, attending internal briefings or knowledge-sharing sessions, and accessing online resources. Topics may cover areas such as development programs, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and professional skills relevant to working in a multilateral development environment. The intern will be actively engaged in hands-on tasks aligned with the unit's ongoing and planned activities. Some of these include: * Recruitment and hiring process for various contract modalities.
  • Talent Management and creating a talent pool.
  • Support in the COA coordination for payroll
  • Coordination of the learning and development initiative, particularly on diversity and inclusion.
