Position Overview
The House Manager (Housekeeping-Focused) will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, order, and presentation at the Director's residence. This role is heavily oriented towards housekeeping supervision, daily upkeep, staff management, and quality control across all living and guest areas.
The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in residential housekeeping management, strong attention to detail, and the ability to enforce high standards consistently while coordinating with domestic staff and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Housekeeping Operations & Quality Control (Primary Focus)
Ensure daily cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of all residential areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, living spaces, kitchen, dining areas, balconies, and storage areas.
Develop and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping schedules.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure hotel-level cleanliness standards are met.
Ensure proper use of cleaning materials, chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
Maintain hygiene standards for high-touch areas, furnishings, upholstery, wardrobes, and fixtures.
Ensure seasonal deep cleaning, pest control coordination, and sanitization activities.
2. Supervision of Housekeeping Staff
Supervise daily activities of housekeeping staff (cleaners, helpers, domestic support staff).
Assign duties, monitor work quality, and ensure discipline and punctuality.
Train staff on correct cleaning methods, hygiene protocols, and safe handling of equipment.
Manage attendance, weekly offs, leaves, and replacement arrangements.
Ensure respectful conduct, confidentiality, and professional behavior from all household staff.
3. Linen, Laundry & Wardrobe Management
Oversee laundering, ironing, storage, and rotation of linens, towels, curtains, and soft furnishings.
Ensure proper care of wardrobes, shoes, accessories, and storage spaces.
Maintain inventory of linen, cleaning supplies, and consumables.
Coordinate dry-cleaning and special garment care with vendors when required.
4. Kitchen & Dining Area Hygiene Oversight
Ensure kitchen, pantry, and dining areas are maintained as per hygiene and safety standards.
Coordinate with cook and kitchen helpers to ensure cleanliness before and after meal preparation.
Monitor storage of groceries, utensils, appliances, and waste disposal.
Ensure pest-free, organized, and sanitized kitchen operations.
5. Vendor & Service Coordination (Housekeeping-Related
)
Coordinate with vendors for housekeeping supplies, pest control, deep cleaning, upholstery cleaning, and maintenance services.
Supervise external housekeeping-related work and ensure timely completion.
Maintain a vendor contact list and track service quality.
6. Inventory, Supplies & Expense Tracking
Maintain stock levels of cleaning materials, toiletries, consumables, and household essentials.
Ensure timely procurement and avoid wastage or misuse.
Track petty cash expenses related to housekeeping and submit reports when required.
7. Guest Readiness & Hospitality Support
Ensure guest rooms and common areas are immaculately prepared before arrivals.
Coordinate housekeeping schedules around guest visits, events, or family requirements.
Ensure privacy, discretion, and comfort for guests at all times.
8. Compliance, Safety & Confidentiality
Ensure safety protocols related to cleaning chemicals and equipment are followed.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding household matters and family privacy.
Adhere to society rules, residential regulations, and security protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3-6 years of experience in housekeeping supervision, residential facility management, hotel housekeeping, or premium household management.
Experience in private residences, villas, guest houses, or hospitality environments preferred.
Knowledge of housekeeping SOPs, hygiene standards, and staff supervision.
Ability to manage multiple staff members and maintain discipline.
Basic documentation and record-keeping skills.
