The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall upkeep of the school premises. This role ensures a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors by supervising housekeeping staff, maintaining cleaning standards, and coordinating daily cleaning operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of housekeeping and cleaning staff
Ensure classrooms, offices, restrooms, corridors, laboratories, libraries, and common areas are cleaned and maintained to school standards
Develop and implement cleaning schedules, checklists, and duty rosters
Train housekeeping staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and use of equipment and chemicals
Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; place requisitions as needed
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including infection-control standards
Conduct regular inspections of school facilities and address cleanliness or maintenance issues promptly
Coordinate with maintenance and administration teams for repairs and special cleaning requirements
Handle staff attendance, performance monitoring, and reporting
Respond promptly to cleaning needs during school events, emergencies, or special programs
Promote environmentally friendly and safe cleaning practices
Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification in housekeeping or facilities management preferred)
Minimum [2-5] years of experience in housekeeping or cleaning operations, preferably in a school, hospital, or institutional setting
Prior supervisory experience is an advantage
Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership and team management skills
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety standards
Good organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene
Physically fit and able to perform supervisory and occasional hands-on duties
