Job Description

1. Cleaning and Sanitization

Cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and common areas. Disinfecting high-touch surfaces like bed rails, door handles, light switches, and handrails. Regular cleaning of waiting areas, lobbies, and nurse stations.

2. Waste Management

Proper collection and disposal of biomedical and general waste as per hospital protocols. Segregating waste into color-coded bins (e.g., infectious, sharp, recyclable).

3. Infection Control

Following standard precautions and infection control protocols. Using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensuring that cleaning materials and equipment are sanitized and stored properly.

4. Linen Management

Collecting soiled linen and replacing with fresh, sanitized linen. Transporting linens to and from the laundry service.

5. Replenishing Supplies

Refilling soap dispensers, toilet paper, tissues, and hand sanitizers in patient and public areas.

6. Floor and Surface Maintenance

Sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors regularly. Cleaning spills promptly to prevent slips and falls.

7. Reporting and Coordination

Reporting any damages or repairs needed to the maintenance department. Coordinating with nursing and administrative staff for room readiness (e.g., after patient discharge).

8. Support in Emergencies

Assisting in cleaning and disinfection during outbreaks or emergencies (e.g., spills of bodily fluids). Helping in the setup and maintenance of isolation rooms if required.
