normal hotel reception job involves being the first point of contact, handling guest check-ins/outs, managing reservations (phone, online), answering inquiries, processing payments, resolving complaints, and coordinating with other hotel staff (housekeeping, maintenance) to ensure a smooth, welcoming, and efficient guest experience, using hotel software for all tasks and maintaining a tidy front desk.
Key Responsibilities: Guest Services: Greet, welcome, and register guests; provide information on hotel amenities, local attractions, and services; handle guest requests and complaints professionally. Reservations: Manage bookings via phone, email, and online systems, including new reservations, modifications, and cancellations. Check-in/Check-out: Process guest registration, verify ID, assign rooms, issue keys, prepare invoices, and collect payments (cash/credit). Administrative Tasks: Answer calls, transfer calls, take messages, manage mail/deliveries, update guest records, and maintain front desk organization. Coordination: Liaise with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure guest needs (like room readiness) are met. Upselling: Promote hotel services, facilities, and loyalty programs to guests. Essential Skills: Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems. Computer literacy, particularly with hotel management software. Good organization and administrative skills. Professional appearance and demeanor.
