Job Purpose
To ensure the smooth, safe and disciplined functioning of the hostel by maintaining a secure, hygienic and student-friendly environment, and by acting as a guardian, mentor and administrator for hostel residents.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Welfare & Discipline
Maintain discipline, decorum and a peaceful atmosphere in the hostel.
Ensure all hostel rules and regulations are followed by students.
Counsel students on personal, academic and behavioural issues when required.
Handle conflicts, complaints and grievances among students and resolve them fairly.
Take immediate action in case of any indiscipline, misconduct or emergency and report to higher authorities.
2. Hostel Administration
Monitor student attendance in hostel (entry/exit register, night roll call, leave records).
Maintain updated records of hostel residents, room allocation and occupancy.
Oversee hostel timings, gate closing, visitor entry, and security protocols.
Coordinate with administration for admissions, vacating rooms, and fee-related issues.
Assist in allotment and shifting of rooms as per institutional rules.
3. Safety, Security & Emergency Response
Ensure safety and security of all residents and hostel property.
Supervise security staff, caretakers and other hostel support staff (if applicable).
Be available (or on-call) for emergencies like illness, accidents, fights, fire, etc.
Arrange immediate medical help and inform parents/guardians and authorities in case of any serious issue.
Conduct regular checks of rooms, corridors and common areas to prevent prohibited activities (ragging, substance abuse, etc.).
4. Infrastructure & Maintenance
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in rooms, bathrooms, corridors and common areas.
Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance and mess staff for smooth operations.
Report and follow up on repair/maintenance issues (electricity, plumbing, furniture, water supply, etc.).
Monitor proper use of hostel facilities and prevent damage or misuse.
5. Mess & Daily Living Facilities
Supervise quality, hygiene and timing of food served in the hostel mess (if under hostel warden scope).
Collect regular feedback from students regarding food and hostel facilities.
Ensure availability of basic amenities like drinking water, first aid, and other essentials.
6. Communication & Reporting
Act as a link between hostel residents and the institution's authorities.
Inform parents/guardians about serious discipline, health or academic concerns.
Prepare and submit periodic reports on hostel discipline, attendance, incidents and maintenance.
Participate in hostel committee meetings and suggest improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Graduate in any discipline.
Experience:
Prior experience as a warden, counsellor or in student handling will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle adolescents/young adults patiently and firmly.
Strong sense of responsibility, integrity and confidentiality.
Conflict resolution and counselling skills.
Leadership and team-handling ability.
Basic computer knowledge for record keeping and reporting.

(Residential ) stay on campus
Availability during evenings, weekends and holidays as per hostel requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹8,555.18 - ₹10,000.00 per month
