Job Description

Role Summary



The Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe, effective, and ethical management of all medication-related services in the hospital. This includes dispensing psychiatric medications, maintaining accurate drug records, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and providing medication counselling to patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities1. Dispensing & Medication Management



Dispense prescription medications accurately as per psychiatrist and physician orders. Ensure correct dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications specific to psychiatric medications. Maintain strict control of Schedule X and other controlled drugs.

2. Inventory & Stock Control



Maintain adequate stock of all medicines, emergency drugs, and psychiatric medications. Monitor expiry dates and conduct regular audits of pharmacy inventory. Coordinate with vendors for timely procurement and stock management.

3. Patient & Staff Counselling



Provide counselling on medication usage, side effects, dosage, and compliance. Educate patients about psychotropic medications and their importance. Assist nurses and psychiatrists with medication-related queries.

4. Compliance & Documentation



Ensure adherence to Drug & Cosmetic Act and hospital pharmacy policies. Maintain accurate prescription records, billing, and daily stock registers. Maintain narcotics register and submit reports as per statutory laws. Ensure pharmacy SOPs are followed at all times.

5. Coordination



Coordinate with psychiatrists, nurses, and other departments for smooth medication flow. Support inpatient wards for medication rounds when required. Attend clinical discussions or case-related meetings if needed.

6. Quality & Safety



Ensure safe storage and handling of all psychotropic drugs. Monitor for adverse drug reactions (ADR) and report to the clinical team. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pharmacy area.

Skills & Qualifications



D.Pharm / B.Pharm

(Registered Pharmacist with State Pharmacy Council). Experience in a

psychiatric hospital

or healthcare setup preferred. Knowledge of

psychotropic medications, narcotics handling, and drug interactions

. Strong communication and documentation skills.

Pay: ?10,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
