? Intensive Care Nurses (ICU) provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
? In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Intensive Care Nurses include (but are not limited to):
Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient's medical condition.
Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members.
Monitor doses & patient recovery & care.
Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit.
Coordinate with billing & reception dept for admission & discharge Or intra hospital transfer process.
Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient.
Preparing all nursing notes on daily basis & getting it check by RMO. Additionally also filling all the nursing related forms & formats.
Do the indenting and checking of drugs, supplies and maintaining inventories.
Implement effective care plans with the help of RMO.
To check monitor, ventilator, all life saving gadgets for proper working condition.
Assisting doctors in providing physical assessments and administering treatments; monitoring vital signs and ensuring the proper functions of feeding tubes, ventilators, catheters and other life support equipments.
Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, transducers, and pressure lines.
Assisting the Consultants and Medical officers in procedures such as, intubations, defibrillations, auto transfusions, central line insertion, ETT insertion, etc.
Proper insertion of vein flow and blood collection in a single prick whenever required.
Frequent Communication with doctors and patients to keep everyone updated on test results and treatment recommendations.
Assist in the care of traumas, cardiac arrests, strokes, and other triage situations.
Expert knowledge of health and safety guidelines/procedures (sanitation, decontamination, etc.)
Keep self updated regarding infection prevention control and also train Class IV staff to handle biomedical waste management
Keep supervision of work of Class IV staff allotted in the ward for maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation.
Follow prescribed rules in case of accident or death of a patient.
Handled patient questions and keep accurate records, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Educate patients/relatives about medications, treatment procedures and discharge processes.
To fumigate the department periodically.
Maintain poisonous drugs registered.
Administer medications intravenously, by injection, orally, through gastric tubes, or by other methods whatever pt requires
Ensure to make the ward clean and tidy including bed.
Keep all articles well arranged and maintain the inventory.
Orient the new staff with ward.
Keep a sub stock of drugs, linen and other supplies for ward maintenance.
Any other resposibilities given by Senior authorities time to time.
