The Horticulturist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing all green areas at the site. This includes outdoor landscapes, gardens, lawns, indoor plants, and environmental beautification initiatives. The role ensures healthy plant growth, aesthetic upkeep, and adherence to safety and sustainability standards across the premises.
Key Responsibilities1. Site Landscaping & Garden Maintenance
Maintain all green areas including lawns, gardens, pathways, and entry points.
Ensure timely watering, mowing, pruning, trimming, weeding, and seasonal plantation.
Maintain indoor plants across offices, reception, meeting rooms, and common areas.
Ensure aesthetic upkeep of the entire premises to reflect a pleasant and professional environment.
2. Plant Health, Soil & Irrigation Management
Monitor plant health, soil conditions, and nutrient levels regularly.
Manage irrigation systems, adjusting schedules based on seasons and plant needs.
Identify pest issues, diseases, and deficiencies and take timely corrective action.
Ensure safe and responsible use of fertilizers, pesticides, and organic treatments.
3. Environmental & Sustainability Initiatives
Implement eco-friendly horticulture practices such as composting and waste reduction.
Promote water-saving techniques like mulching, drip irrigation, or smart scheduling.
Maintain green-based environmental improvement activities at the site (oxygen plants, native plants, air-purifying plants).
4. Site Coordination & Operations
Plan annual and seasonal landscaping activities for the site.
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and potential hazards.
Coordinate with the Admin/Facility team for resource planning and improvement projects.
Maintain all horticulture tools, equipment, fertilizers, and seeds in optimal condition.
5. Vendor, Staff & Budget Management
Supervise gardeners, helpers, and outsourced horticulture staff (if any).
Coordinate with plant nurseries, suppliers, and service providers for procurement.
Ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines while maintaining high-quality standards.
6. Reporting & Compliance
Maintain daily/weekly logs for plant health, maintenance tasks, and material usage.
Submit periodic reports to Admin/Facility management.
Comply with all HR, safety, and environmental policies applicable at the site.
Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
Strong knowledge of plant species, landscaping techniques, pest management, and soil science.
Skilled in operating horticulture tools and irrigation systems.
Ability to design small landscape layouts and aesthetic enhancements.

Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related discipline.
Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on horticulture or landscape maintenance experience.
Experience in maintaining large commercial/industrial/residential sites is an advantage.
Work Conditions
Primarily outdoor work with exposure to plants, soil, fertilizers, and environmental elements.
Requires physical activity including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
May require flexible hours during special events, seasonal planting, or emergencies.
