Horticulturist - Wellness & Sanctuary Management

Location: Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India

Department: Facilities & Wellness Operations

Reports To: Head of Operations

At Infinite Spiritual Lifestyle, we believe that the physical environment is an extension of our inner state. The Horticulturist role is central to this philosophy. This position is responsible for the design, cultivation, and maintenance of all campus gardens, specializing in creating

healing sanctuaries, meditative landscapes, and sustainable, organic food/herb sources

. The ideal candidate views horticulture as a mindful practice and is deeply committed to ecological stewardship in the unique climate of Mount Abu.

Key Responsibilities1. Mindful Garden Management & Maintenance

Aesthetic & Spiritual Design:

Plan, develop, and maintain gardens, pathways, and green spaces specifically designed to enhance mindfulness, meditation, and sensory wellness for guests and staff.

Climate Expertise:

Manage plant selection, soil composition, and garden layouts suitable for the diverse climatic conditions of Mount Abu (including arid conditions, varying light, and seasonal changes).

Daily Care:

Oversee all planting, weeding, pruning, deadheading, mulching, and general upkeep of ornamental gardens, functional vegetable patches, and indoor plant arrangements.
2. Organic and Sustainable Practices

Soil Health:

Implement comprehensive organic soil management programs, including composting, vermiculture, and natural soil amendment to maximize nutrient density without chemical fertilizers.

Water Stewardship:

Design and manage efficient irrigation systems (e.g., drip irrigation) to conserve water, reflecting a sustainable approach vital to the Mount Abu region.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM):

Utilize only natural, non-toxic, and biological controls for pest and disease management, fully adhering to organic certification standards.
3. Herbal and Medicinal Plant Focus

Herbal Apothecary:

Cultivate, harvest, and maintain a dedicated section of the garden focused on Ayurvedic and medicinal plants (e.g., Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Brahmi) to supply the campus wellness center and kitchen.

Documentation:

Maintain meticulous records of planting schedules, harvest yields, and plant health data.

Botanical Knowledge:

Advise the culinary and wellness teams on the seasonal availability and optimal harvesting techniques for plant-based ingredients.
4. Team Leadership & Education

Team Oversight:

Guide and supervise junior gardening staff or volunteers, instilling best practices in organic and mindful gardening.

Wellness Integration:

Occasionally lead short, introductory sessions or workshops for guests on topics such as the spiritual practice of gardening, herbal identification, or composting.
Required Qualifications and Skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of professional horticulture experience, with demonstrated success in managing organic gardens, herbal collections, or large landscape projects.

Mount Abu/Arid Experience:

Proven experience adapting gardening techniques to high-altitude or semi-arid climates is highly preferred.

Technical Knowledge:

Deep expertise in soil science, plant pathology, entomology, and integrated pest management (IPM) using natural solutions.

Mindset:

A genuine passion for wellness, sustainability, and mindful living. Must be physically fit and able to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.

Language:

Fluency in Hindi and working proficiency in English.
