Homeroom Teacher (HRT) for Shrutham School International

Head of School / Academic Coordinator
Role Purpose
The Homeroom Teacher is the primary mentor, guide, and anchor for a group of students. The HRT plays a critical role in the academic, emotional, behavioural, and value-based development of children, ensuring a strong partnership between students, parents, and the school. The role goes beyond subject teaching and focuses on nurturing well-rounded, responsible, and self-aware learners aligned with Shrutham's philosophy of Wisdom, Harmony, and Dharma.
Key Responsibilities1. Student Well-being & Pastoral Care
Act as the first point of contact for students' academic progress, emotional well-being, behaviour, and social development
Build strong, trusting relationships with students and understand individual learning needs
Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline, and overall student conduct
Identify concerns early and coordinate with counsellors, coordinators, and parents where required
2. Academic Monitoring & Support
Track students' academic performance across subjects in coordination with subject teachers
Support students in goal setting, study habits, organisation, and time management
Ensure timely completion of classwork, homework, projects, and assessments
Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic records and student profiles
3. Parent Engagement & Communication
Serve as the primary liaison between parents and the school for assigned students
Conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) with clarity, empathy, and professionalism
Share regular updates with parents regarding progress, concerns, and achievements
Address parent queries responsibly and escalate concerns through proper channels when required
4. Values, Character & Life Skills Development
Foster Shrutham's core values: discipline, respect, responsibility, empathy, and integrity
Lead life skills sessions, circle time, reflection activities, and value-based discussions
Encourage positive behaviour, self-discipline, collaboration, and independent thinking
Act as a role model in conduct, communication, and professional ethics
5. Classroom & Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the homeroom
Maintain class records including attendance, behaviour logs, and student portfolios
Support school events, assemblies, celebrations, trips, and special programs
Ensure students adhere to school policies, uniform standards, and code of conduct
6. Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
Work closely with subject teachers, coordinators, counsellors, and leadership team
Participate actively in meetings, training programs, workshops, and school initiatives
Continuously reflect on teaching and mentoring practices to improve effectiveness
Contribute positively to the school culture and professional learning community
Desired Qualifications & Experience
Graduate / Postgraduate degree with B.Ed or equivalent teaching qualification
Relevant teaching experience, preferably in CBSE / International curriculum schools
Strong understanding of child development and classroom management
Ability to mentor, guide, and inspire students beyond academics
