Position Overview



The Homeroom Teacher (HRT) for Cambridge Stages 4-5 is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning aligned with the Cambridge Primary Curriculum. The HRT provides academic instruction in core subjects (typically English, Mathematics, Science, and Global Perspectives depending on school structure), ensures students' personal development, and acts as the primary pastoral figure for the class.



Key Responsibilities



1.Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with the Cambridge Primary Curriculum (Stages 4-5).

2.Use effective teaching strategies that support inquiry-based, student-centered learning.

3.Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.

4.Integrate assessment for learning (AfL) practices regularly.

5.Prepare learners for internal and Cambridge progress checks where applicable.

6.Maintain a stimulating, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.

7.Conduct continuous and summative assessments following Cambridge guidelines.

8.Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and progress.

9.Prepare detailed progress reports for parents each term.

10.Use assessment data to guide lesson planning and intervention strategies.

11.Serve as the first point of contact for students' academic and emotional needs.

12.Promote positive behaviour, respect, and responsibility in accordance with school policies.

13.Conduct daily registration, monitor student well-being, and communicate concerns to the pastoral team.

14.Build positive student relationships to foster a safe, supportive learning environment.

15.Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic progress and behavioural matters.

16.Collaborate with subject specialists, teaching assistants, and curriculum coordinators.

17.Attend parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.

18.Contribute to school events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities as required.

19.Demonstrate knowledge of the Cambridge learning objectives for Stages 4-5.

20.Engage in reflective practice and follow school improvement plans.

21.Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality.

22.Stay updated with Cambridge training, teaching strategies, and curriculum updates.



Qualifications & Experience



Bachelor's degree in education or related field

Teaching certification / license (where applicable)

Experience teaching Cambridge Primary curriculum is an advantage

Excellent command of English

Strong classroom management and communication skills
