Position Summary
The Cambridge Homeroom Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum while providing holistic pastoral care to students. The role involves academic planning, classroom instruction, assessment, student mentoring, parent communication, and collaboration with colleagues to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the Cambridge International Curriculum (Cambridge Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE, or AS & A Levels, as applicable).
Develop and implement schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with Cambridge learning objectives.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
Use a variety of teaching strategies, assessments, and resources to promote critical thinking and inquiry-based learning.
Prepare students for Cambridge assessments and examinations through effective teaching and formative feedback.
Assessment & Reporting
Design, administer, and evaluate formative and summative assessments as per Cambridge guidelines.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievement.
Provide constructive feedback to students to support continuous improvement.
Prepare report cards, progress reports, and student portfolios within stipulated timelines.
Homeroom & Pastoral Care
Serve as the primary point of contact for students and parents within the homeroom.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes respect and wellbeing.
Monitor students' academic, social, and emotional development and provide guidance and support.
Address student concerns, behavioral issues, and well-being matters in collaboration with counselors and school leadership.
Conduct homeroom sessions, assemblies, and activities that support character education and life skills.
Parent & Stakeholder Communication
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and well-being.
Participate in parent-teacher meetings, orientations, and school events.
Collaborate with subject teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure holistic student development.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in professional development, training, and Cambridge workshops as required.
Contribute to curriculum development, school improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes.
Uphold school policies, procedures, and the Cambridge learner attributes.
Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant subject area (Master's degree preferred).
Teaching qualification/certification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent).
Experience teaching the Cambridge International Curriculum is preferred.
Strong understanding of child development and student-centered teaching practices.
